- 3 cups Water

- 1 Onion, thinly sliced
- 2 Cloves Garlic, minced

Method
- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat the ghee or butter over medium heat.

- Add the bay leaf, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, and cumin seeds and stir for a minute.

- Add water and salt and stir once.
- Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Cook for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
