Method

  1. Wash the broken rice in cold water and soak it for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a saucepan and add cumin seeds.
  3. When the cumin seeds start to splutter, add chopped onion and green chili. Fry until the onion turns translucent.
  4. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry for a minute.
  5. Add chopped tomato and fry until it turns mushy.
  6. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  7. Add the soaked broken rice and fry for a minute.
  8. Add 2 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
  9. Reduce heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid.
  10. Cook for around 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and all the water has been absorbed.
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
